About Me

Hyeonji Kim is a violinist from South Korea.
Since she started playing violin at the age 5, she has won the first prize in numerous major national competitions including the Joong Ang Competition and Eumyeon Competition. She had been selected as a semifanilist of international competitions including Sendai International Music Competition and Schoenfeld International String Competition.
In 2024, she had a debut concert in Korea, after being selected for an audition hosted by the Kumho Cultural Foundation.
As a chamber musician, Hyeonji has played in Piano Trio, Trio MOA for 4 years including the Seocho Chamber Festival. Now, she is in another Piano Trio, Trio O which has been created at The Juilliard School. Also, she participated in several international festivals, including Kneisel Hall, the LG Chamber Festival with CMS and Cambridge International String Academy in London, and the Seoul Arts Center Summer Festival.
As an orchestra player, Hyeonji was a concertmaster for 4 years at Seoul National University. In 2024-2025, she had been performed as a concertmaster and second principal at The Juilliard School.
Hyeonji has performed in classical music as well as in collaboration with other genres. Collaborative performances were especially with ballet, including
“Yun Byul and Friends” and “The New Ballet Gala; New Wave”.
Hyeonji had masterclasses with major artists such as Ulf Wallin, Yuzuko Horigome, Rodney Friend, and Namyoon Kim. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University under Professor Young Uck Kim and Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Joseph Lin. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University.
